Hey my friends…
I am taking forever to finish the next blog because frankly, between when I started writing it and now I’ve changed my mind about a bunch of things. That’s creative liberty I suppose.
To tide you over in the mean time, read this brilliant piece Jon Foreman wrote for the Huffington Post: “Goodness Precedes Greatness: A Call For New Heroes In Troubled Times”.
Jon is one of the most talented and prolific songwriters I know and also a supremely good human being. This article doesn’t just make some great points, but is a little glimpse into the well from which Jon draws.
Enjoy!

AMAZING article. Thanks for sharing that!
Stellar. Thanks for sharing…
Thanks for sharing this piece.
the challenge now is to not just read and affirm it … but to live it out.
Inspirationally brilliant. Is inspirationally a word? I hope so. If not, I just made it one.

Read this over the weekend. Sooo loved it!
I have ‘firsties’!!!
I love Jon Foreman’s music…
That was a deep article
Agreed, Jon Foreman has been one of my favorite musicians for a long time, always seeking a way to bring hope to this hurting world, which I think he’s doing a good job so far through his unique talent. His passion is what amazes me, I really do admire him..
Props to the HuffPo for featuring Jon. Props to Jon for the eloquent article. Props to God for Jon.
You and Jon Foreman are two of the most profound songwriters I know. And I admire the two of you.
I’ve been following both your tweets! Now when shall your collab songwriting be?
Excellent article, and as Jon always does, he opens my eyes to see things in ways that I’ve never seen, no matter which angles or how exhaustively I’ve looked at them before.
Jon is an amazing person. I have all of his solo EPs
. Looking forward to your next blog!
Hi Brooke!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Jonathan Foreman. I think he is extremely brilliant and what’s so great about him is that he remains humble.
I’m excited for your next blog entry. You truly are an inspiration.

and to think…you are going to write a song with this guy…awesome!
Hi Brooke! i’m so glad that you have a blog, it is very refreshing to be able to get to know people that i admire, even if it is through a blog
thanks for the link, it was an enjoyable and inspiring read.
Thanks, Brooke! Switchfoot is my favorite band, and I am a big fan of Jon’s songwriting. It’s so good that readers of the Huffington Post have the opportunity to glimpse his insights if they don’t already know of him =)
Hey Brooke, I just wanted to say thanks for posting that essay by Jon Foreman. You and him are my two favourite lyricists! Keep up the great work. I’m already finding this songwriting e-workshop very beneficial. Thanks and keep it coming! (By the way, I totally think that you and Jon should write a song together. I know you’re not into co-writing, but man…I think if you could co-write with anyone it would be Jon Foreman. Think about it alright?)
I love introduction; “…writing songs hlep me to live… And so the song becomes a vehicle to cover some serious ground.”
Many do not realize the weight that flows from ones mouth. I love music and writing songs because it is a beautiful mixture of melody & power. Which, in the end gives the drive to live.
You inspire me.
Thank you!

Creative Liberty…
I personally try to run away from it when it gets to overwhelming, but I’m thinking embracing (and fighting) with it is the better way to go…
Creativity just keeps offering more and more chances…Recognizing that this is a good thing is the key…
